Section 508
Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act requires accessible technology across federal agencies, and it reaches further than most buyers expect. If your organization takes federal grant money for technology, which describes most state agencies and large school districts, 508 is not optional for you either. Keyspider's search interface conforms to the standard at 36 CFR Part 1194, so the search page never becomes the reason a funded project fails review.
How it works
Align to the standard
The 508 refresh aligned the federal standard with WCAG Level AA. Keyspider builds to WCAG 2.2 AA, which covers the 508 requirements and then some.
Verify with real assistive tech
Conformance is confirmed with screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, and high-contrast testing, because a checklist alone doesn't prove a page works for the people it protects.
Document for the file
Request the VPAT and hand it to procurement. It maps our conformance to the standard your reviewers are checking against.
Use cases
Federal agencies
A public-facing search tool at a federal agency has to clear 508 before it ships. Keyspider arrives conformant, so the accessibility review isn't the thing that holds up launch.
Grant-funded state projects
A state agency modernizing search with federal funds inherits the 508 obligation. Conformance keeps the project inside the terms of the grant.
K-12 districts
Districts using federal technology funds need their student-facing tools to meet 508. A conformant search interface is one less exposure across the student portal.
