Zero-Result Queries
The second week of September, the bursar's office takes 300 calls about payment plans. The payment plan page exists. Search just wasn't sending anyone to it. A zero-result report would have shown the problem days earlier, as a list of the exact words people typed and got nothing back. If you read one report in Keyspider, read this one.

How it works
Capture every miss
Each time a search returns no results, Keyspider records the query as it was typed. Nothing is sampled or rounded off, so even a one-off failure shows up.
Read the pattern
Sort by frequency and the real gaps rise to the top. Often it isn't missing content at all. It's a vocabulary mismatch, where the page exists but uses different words than the people searching for it.
Close the gap
Add a synonym group so the words connect, pin a best bet to the right page, or flag the query for the content team when the page genuinely doesn't exist yet.
Use cases
Registration and enrollment windows
Traffic spikes and so do failed searches. Watching zero-result queries during the first two weeks of a term turns a wave of calls into a short list of quick fixes.
Policy and benefit programs
Residents search 'rent help' and 'eviction', not 'Emergency Rental Assistance Program'. The zero-result list shows the gap, and a synonym closes it the same day.
Product support
Users search error codes and symptoms the docs never named. Each failed query is a title for the next article your team should write.
